Doctor with her VBAC patient

Your Provider Is…

A VBAC Proponent!

Your provider is a great supporter of VBAC. They are encouraging, positive, and fully support your desire for a VBAC. They advocate for VBACs and are committed to empowering you throughout your journey. They are usually proactive in offering support and resources, and they are always ready to discuss all options, risks, and benefits, and respect your birth choices.

What This Means For You

Having a VBAC Proponent on your birth team means you are in very supportive hands. You can feel confident knowing that your team believes in your ability to have a VBAC and will be there to support you every step of the way. Open communication is key, and your team is more than willing to engage in meaningful discussions to address any of your concerns.

Even with all of this support and encouragement, remember that YOU are still in charge and ultimately responsible for your birth choices. Just because a provider is VBAC supportive, doesn’t mean you should push your own needs and intuition to the side. It’s still necessary to know how to effectively advocate for yourself in the event this provider changes their mind or you end up with a different provider at your birth.

Next Steps

  • Maintain open and honest communication with your team.

  • Continue educating yourself about VBACs.

  • Use the support and resources provided by your team in addition to doing your own research.

  • Stay mindful and trust your gut.

Complacency

Even with a supportive team, don’t assume everything will go perfectly. Stay proactive in your preparations.

Hey, there! I’m Hannah.

I help women claim their power and have autonomous births after c-sections.

One of the main reasons women choose not to have a VBAC is because they can’t find a supportive provider.

My hope is that you can take ownership of your birth experience and have that VBAC you desire, even without a supportive provider.

Because at the end of the day, this is your birth and you make the decisions for you and your baby.
